BETHEL MAIN STREET B&B SERVES UP PURPOSE-DRIVEN HOSPITALITY

John and Jeanette Poole, relocated to Bethel from Tennessee in 2015 and purchased the Holidae House Bed and Breakfast, a 119-year-old Victorian bed & breakfast on Main Street.

The Holidae House is an 8-room B&B and is open year-round, providing visitors a warm and inviting place to stay while exploring the Mahoosuc region. Watch our interview with John and Jeanette to hear about how they embrace the Mahoosuc Way through a thoughtful business approach and emphasis on community connection.

The Mahoosuc Way Principles in Action:

“Sustainability means keeping this area as beautiful as it is now while still having people enjoy it.”

  • Cultivate Community: The friendly, welcoming atmosphere at the Holidae House brings guests back year after year. With 10 years of ownership under their belt, the Poole’s have welcomed guests from nearly all 50 states and over 50 countries. Each morning, John and Jeanette serve a delicious breakfast spread, often incorporating fresh ingredients produced by local farms and purveyors in the region.
  • Be Climate Conscious: A Holidae House recognizes the impact a B&B can have on the environment and makes it a priority to make thoughtful decisions to minimize waste. One example of this is seen in the kitchen: they set aside food such as eggshells and banana peels to bring to a local farm to be enjoyed by the animals.
